What to Prepare for a Glass Repair Insurance Claim

When broken glass may be covered by insurance, organized documentation can make communication with the carrier easier. The exact claim process varies by policy, insurer, property type, and cause of loss, so customers should follow the instructions provided by their insurance company.

Start with safety and loss prevention

Keep people away from unstable or shattered glass. If the opening exposes the property, contact an emergency glass provider about temporary securing or board-up. Insurance policies often require reasonable steps to prevent additional damage, but the customer should follow the carrier’s instructions and avoid unsafe do-it-yourself removal.

Take useful photos

Photograph the full opening and surrounding property, then take closer views of the damaged pane, frame, door, hardware, and visible impact area. If temporary board-up is installed, keep both the pre-board-up and post-board-up images when available.

Record the incident information

Write down the date, approximate time, location, what was discovered, and any known cause such as impact, vandalism, storm damage, or another event. For commercial properties, keep internal incident reports, police report numbers, or property-management records when applicable.

Have the claim information ready

If a claim has already been opened, provide the insurance company name and claim number. The estimate form on this website includes optional fields for both. Do not send Social Security numbers, banking information, passwords, or unrelated sensitive documents through the website.

Request an estimate and available documentation

Beltway can provide an estimate and available job documentation related to the glass work. Depending on the project, that may include service details, photos from the job, temporary securing information, or repair/replacement information reasonably available to the company.

Understand what Beltway does not decide

The insurance carrier determines whether the loss is covered, the deductible, any authorization requirements, reimbursement, and payment. Beltway cannot guarantee that a claim will be approved or that a specific amount will be paid.

Insurance claim checklist

Insurance claims are welcome for qualifying glass damage. Start with a call for emergencies or send photos and claim information through the estimate form.
